James Hugh Laurie is the youngest of four children of Dr. William George Ranald Mundell and Patricia Laurie. James’s father is an Olympic gold medalist. He joined a very well known prep school, Dragon School. James attended the Eton and Selwyn College, and his first distinctions were in rowing. James with his partner finished fourth in 1977 when they were representing England’s Youth Team in World Championships. He also achieved a Blue by rowing for Cambridge in the 1980 University Boat Race. In 1981 he became the president of Cambridge Footlights. Along with Emma Thompson and Stephen Fry, he launched a very successful career in comedy and acting. He also published a Novel ‘The Gun Seller’ and another Novel ‘Paper Soldier’ is going to be published in 2009. He is married and presently in London with her wife and three children. The show ‘ A Bit of Fry and Laurie ‘ consisted of comedy sketches and reports , took his career on the ladder of great success. He starred with Rowan Atkinson in the British comedy hit series Blackadder as the Prince Regent. Hugh also appeared as a soldier in World War I.
Laurie has become a renowned award winning actor in United States because of his role on ‘House MD’ as Dr. Gregory House who is a brilliant diagnostician and he loves to solve the challenges of medical puzzles.
